Add to calendar
The Governments of Kenya, Norway and the United States, together with the African Union, the African Development Bank and the International Energy Agency (IEA), will convene a high-level virtual session on 9 July to review progress since the landmark 2024 Summit on Clean Cooking in Africa, announce new commitments and set out the next phase of international action to expand access to clean cooking across Africa.
Co-chaired and co-organised by President of Kenya William Ruto, Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre, United States Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, Chairperson of the African Union Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, President of the African Development Bank Sidi Ould Tah and IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol, the session will bring together senior government leaders and development partners to strengthen international cooperation on one of Africa's most pressing energy and development priorities.
The session will highlight how the chairs will be maintaining momentum on clean cooking toward reconvening the next Summit, while also taking stock of developments since the 2024 Summit, including implementation of the $2.2 billion in commitments announced in 2024 and the growing policy ambition demonstrated by governments across Africa and beyond.
Looking ahead, participants will outline how upcoming international milestones, including the United Nations General Assembly, will be used to mobilise further investment, strengthen partnerships and build momentum towards the next Summit on Clean Cooking in Africa.
