Households Energy Expenditure Database
Pilot database on households energy expenditure data for over 100 countries
Overview
The Households Energy Expenditure database is designed to enable the calculation, analysis, and reporting of energy-related expenditure metrics, focused on households. The database integrates multiple data sources and methodologies to produce robust expenditure indicators, supporting policy analysis, research, and reporting needs for energy analysts and researchers.
The databases use end-uses energy prices and consumption data available from the International Energy Agency (IEA) databases to provide top-down, global and detailed expenditure estimates. Expenditure calculated is then paired with metrics such as population or income data to provide meaningful indicators.
The Households Energy Expenditure database is available in Excel format and includes annual data for 7 indicators, 121 countries, 11 years, 9 energy products, 3 end-uses within the residential sector.
This is the first edition of the database, users are encouraged to provide feedback in order to improve further editions of this database. Please address your comments and inquiries to energyindicators@iea.org.
Schedule
The data is updated twice a year at the end of each semester.
