Notes

S&P 500 is a stock market index of 500 large companies listed in the United States. Scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions come directly from company operations; scope 2 emissions arise from the generation of energy that is purchased by companies; scope 3 emissions occur during the use of a company’s products and are more challenging to estimate.
