Energy-intensive industries include: iron and steel; aluminium; chemicals; cement and non-metallic minerals. Less energy-intensive manufacturing industries include food, beverage and tobacco; textile and leather; machinery, transport equipment and electronics. Due to the grouping limitations in the input-output model in the study, the pulp and paper industry is grouped with wood and furniture manufacturing, a less energy-intensive industry.
