Data for 2020 are economy-wide GHG emissions in 2020 using IEA data for energy-related methane emissions and EDGAR data for other GHG emissions. 2030 numbers are based on countries achieving their conditional NDC. One tonne of methane is taken as equivalent to 30 tonnes of CO₂ based on the 100-year global warming potential (IPCC, 2021). Countries shown in the chart are the top eight GHG emitters in 2020 that have a substantial reduction in GHGs from a 30% reduction in methane to 2030.
