The General Building Regulations sets the energy performance regulations for buildings as approved by Decree No. 2-13-874 to improve the thermal insulation of buildings to reduce energy consumption.The decree includes the following approaches: A performance-based approach: Specifications are expressed in terms of minimum requirements for annual specific heating and cooling requirements, relative to reference indoor temperatures.A prescriptive approach: the technical specifications are expressed, for each type of building and in each climatic zone, in the form of maximum thermal transmittance coefficients.

The government of Morocco has for over a decade embarked on a strategy to limit GHG emissions and increase the role of renewables in its energy mix. The government’s target is to reduce emissions by 42% by 2030 (17% unconditional, 25% conditional on international financing). Morocco Renewable Power Tenders (MASEN)
Since 2010 Moroccan government is tendering new solar and wind capacity through auctions in order to meet country’s renewable energy targets and in order to increase capacity production for growing energy demand.
MASEN is responsible for auctioning solar PV capacity while ONE auctions wind capacity.
