Nick Johnstone
Chief Statistician. Nick Johnstone took up his duties as Chief Statistician and Head of the Energy Data Centre in February 2019. Previously he provided support to the work of the Committee on Industry, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) in the Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation at the OECD. He began his career at the OECD 1999, taking up the position of Head of the Empirical Policy Analysis Unit in the Environment Directorate. He previously held positions as a Research Associate at the International Institute for Environment and Development, and as a Research Officer at the Department of Applied Economics of the University of Cambridge. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge (UK), and has published widely in leading journals in the areas of energy, innovation, and environmental economics.

Mélanie Auvray
Head of Supply Chain and Competitiveness, European Heat Pumps Association. Mélanie holds a master's degree in international and European Law (in English) from Tilburg University, in Netherlands, with a focus on environmental law. After her graduation in 2019, Mélanie joined directly the European Heat Pump Association as a policy assistant and analysed the European Green Deal and its opportunities for the heat pump sector. She quickly took the lead on products related legislations (Ecodesign, energy labelling, network codes, code of conducts…) and started managing the Heat Pump Manufacturers Committee. With the expertise of the members, Mélanie drafted position papers and statements as support to engage with various European and National actors. As Head of Supply Chain & Competitiveness , she oversees the policy officers working on product-related legislation. Dymphna brings more than 25 years of experience managing and leading global development, energy, and climate initiatives in the nonprofit and private sectors. Most recently, she led international corporate engagement with the World Wildlife Fund’s Climate & Energy team. Previously, she worked with the Clinton Foundation as CEO of the Clinton Climate Initiative and has served as the senior director for public policy programs at the German Marshall Fund of the United States. Dymphna has also served as the director of global renewables, infrastructure, and energy efficiency at a specialist investment banking firm in London, and for seven years at BP, where her last appointment was as BP Alternative Energy’s director of distributed energy markets.
