Business Energy Advice Program

Last updated: 8 July 2019

The $11.7 million Business Energy Advice Program (BEAP) will deliver trusted advice to help small businesses get better energy deals and increase their energy efficiency. Small businesses are defined as those businesses with between 6 and 20 employees. Services will be available to small businesses in all Australian states and territories.  There are two components to the program:

1. An energy advisory service will be run by the Department's roll out partner, the New South Wales Business Chamber. The roll out partner will deliver face-to-face, phone and digital advice to help small businesses across Australia understand their energy saving opportunities and more effectively switch energy plans and retailers. Advisory services will be launched in July 2019.

2. Development of an energy benchmanrking tool led by AlphaBeta and Xero Small Business Insights, for small businesses to compare their energy spend against their peers. The data which underpins this tool will support a 'true' comparison based on business type, location and other relevant characteristics. The energy benchmarking tool is expected to be launched in August 2019.
