Critical Minerals Policy Tracker

Building on the IEA’s flagship annual report, Global Critical Minerals Outlook, the Critical Minerals Policy Tracker is a tool designed to help governments explore new and existing critical mineral policies across four key policy areas:

• Ensuring supply reliability and resiliency

• Promoting exploration, production and innovation

• Encouraging sustainable and responsible practices

• Advancing minerals recycling

Since its launch in November 2022, the Tracker has expanded to cover policies from over 60 countries and regions and more than 600 policies, laws and regulations. Initially focused on three policy areas, its scope was expanded in 2024 to include policies supporting the development of recycling value chains. Since 2025, the Tracker has also incorporated policies relating to supply chain traceability.

While not intended to be exhaustive, the Tracker provides an overview of existing and emerging international practices and national priorities relating to critical minerals. The database is updated annually.

This table reflects entries in the IEA Policies Database. We welcome feedback from jurisdictions regarding any updates to existing policies or on additional policies that are missing from the database.
