The Act directs the U.S. Department of Energy to conduct a cost-shared R&D and Demonstration program for Energy Storage for Transportation and Electric Power to support the ability of the nation to remain globally competitive in energy storage systems for electric drive vehicles, stationary applications, and electricity transmission and distribution. Demonstration activities include regionally-diversified demonstrations of energy storage systems, electric drive vehicle energy storage demonstrations conducted through consortia and secondary applications of energy storage devices following service in electric drive vehicles.
