The government’s UK Climate Change Programme outlined all of the UK policies and programmes in place to tackle climate change, including several measures of energy efficiency. The 2006 Programme includes a package of new and existing measures, which were projected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to 15-18% below 1990 levels by 2010 and work towards the longer term goal to reduce carbon emissions by 60% by 2050, as set out in the 2003 Energy White Paper. It is not a statement of current government policy.
