Since 1995, Refrigerators were the first appliance under the Label No.5 project. Five major manufacturers and the importers participated in the project, these were: Sanyo Universal Electric Co.ltd , Hitachi Consumer Product (Thailand), Kang Yong Electric co.ltd, A.P. National Electric co.ltd and Thai Toshiba Industry co.ltd. Companies continually enhance the efficiency of appliance to meet the criteria of Thai Industrial Standard Institute (TISI) and to meet the testing requirements of the Electrical and Electronics Institute (EEI).
Rescaling the efficiency criteria of the Label no.5 Refrigerator
Since 2001, EGAT and participating companies joined to develop the efficiency of the Label No.5 Refrigerator to gain 20% higher efficiency under the logo label no.5 (2001). The label not only provides benefits to consumers, but increase the standard and competition within the manufactruing industry. The project initially included 1 door refrigerator and then expanded to include 2 doors refrigerator as the demand for these products increased.
