Reducing the impact of human exposure to air pollutants in areas where there is significant exceed of the limits and target concentration levels of these pollutants, and for which (areas) air protection programs have been developed. The program objective will be achieved by reducing emissions, in particular particulate matter PM 2.5, PM 10, and CO2 emissions.

Programme KAWKA supports implementation of the EU Directive 2008/50/WE of 21 May 2008 on ambient air quality and cleaner air for Europe. 

Programme runs from 28 February 2013 till 31 December 2018.

First call for application for KAWKA programme starts on 26 February 2013 and closes on 21 August 2013.

Beneficiaries – to be determined individually by the 16 Provincial Funds for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
Grants will be provided by the 16 Provincial Funds for Environmental Protection and Water Management – from the funds made available by the National Fund. 

Beneficiaries will receive financial return up to 45% on qualified investment in form of grant. 

Funding will be provided to the projects:
1) aimed at reducing low emissions associated with raising energy efficiency and the use of high-efficiency cogeneration systems and renewable energy sources (aiming at ;
2) reducing emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere from urban transport.

Educational projects informing on health and social benefits resulting from low GHG emissions will also be eligible to benefit from KAWKA.
