The goal of the programme is to reduce or to avoid CO2 emissions by increasing energy production from renewable energy sources.  The programme provides a support in a form of soft loans. The budget allocation is for years 2014-2020.

Detailed rules of the loan mechanism:

The intensity of financing differs depending on the renewable energy technology. RE technologies are eligible to receive soft loans amounting to the following percentages of capital investment.

  • Wind power plant- up to 30 %;
  • Photovoltaic system - up to 75 %;
  • Energy from geothermal waters - up to 50 %;
  • Small hydropower plants - up to 50 %;
  • Biomass heat source - up to 30 %;
  • Biogas power plants- up to 75 %;
  • Generation of electricity from high efficiency cogeneration on biomass - up to 75 %.

Maximum loan level per each project is 40 mln PLN. Financial support from BOIAN programme cannot be combined with other financial support programmes founded by The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.

Interest rate on the loan does not exceed 2%. The loans can be granted for a maximum period of 15 years. The first loan instalment has to be paid back no later than 18 months after the loan was granted. The loan cannot be cancelled.
