The Large-scale Programme on Climate Research (KLIMAFORSK) is the Research Council’s initiative for climate research. Launched in 2014, the programme will run through 2023.
The KLIMAFORSK programme is a broad-based, long-term research programme aimed at providing new, future-oriented knowledge of national and international significance.

The Research Council’s previous large-scale programme on climate research, Climate Change and Impacts in Norway (NORKLIMA), was concluded in 2013. Projects funded under the NORKLIMA programme that had not been concluded in 2013 have been incorporated into the KLIMAFORSK programme portfolio.
The programme is currently funded by the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the Ministry of Education and Research, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, and cross-sectoral funding from the Ministry of Education and Research.
