Description:To comply with its Kyoto Protocol emissions reductions commitment, the Dutch government will cap domestic emissions for all installations at 108.6 MtCO2 per year for 2008-2012. This Kyoto period cap represents a reduction of 3.4 MtCO2 from the 112 MtCO2 presently allocated to Dutch participants in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme. While some firms currently covered by ETS will escape coverage from 2008, any emissions-generating production growth among remaining firms must not surpass the new lower caps.
