Climate Change Description:Energy ministers from 21 member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) gathered at the 7th APEC Energy Ministers Meeting (EMM7) in Gyeongju on October 19 to devise region-wide responses to high oil prices. Among other points of the joint communique adopted at the meetings end, the energy ministers encouraged member governments to: - Accelerate energy technology development through cooperative activities to support the development of technologies for new and renewable energy, clean fossil energy including clean coal, carbon capture and storage, hydrogen and fuel cells, and methane hydrates. - Expand regional cooperation in nuclear power among interested member countries.
