Description:The two government-owned banks - the Development Bank of Japan and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation – and Japanese private enterprises established the Japan GHG Reduction Fund (JGRF), a fund for purchasing greenhouse gas emission reduction from CDM/JI projects on 1 December, 2004. The initial size of the fund is $140 million, with investments coming from the two banks as well as approximately 30 Japanese private enterprises. Target projects include biomass power generation, co-generation plant construction, improvement of the operating efficiency of existing thermal power plants, and repairs of such plants.
