Ireland published its National Climate Change Strategy in October 2000. Its objectives are to put in place a framework for action required to meet Irelands commitment under the Kyoto Protocol. Key energy efficiency-related initiatives include: - Measures on fuel efficiency, demand management and modal shift. - Measures to reduce emissions from the built environment, including improved land-use, further review of building regulations to promote better insulated and more energy-efficient new buildings, and restructuring grants for new houses to favour more energy-efficient houses. - Full liberalisation of CHP.
