The 2002 budget extends a one-time tax credit of €1,525 for the purchase or the renting of natural-gas vehicles. The tax credit is extended to €2,300 if the acquisition of a clean-fuel vehicle (NGV, LPG, hybrid vehicles) is accompanied with the scrapping of a vehicle first registered before 1 January 1992, when France began requiring the use of catalytic converters on unleaded fuel vehicles. The tax credit is extended also to people transforming their gasoline cars (licensed for less than three years) to gas from liquefied petrol (GPL).
