The energy policy prioritizes hydropower resource development since hydrological resources are Ethiopia's most abundant and sustainable forms of energy. In parallel, the policy encourages an energy mix with other renewable such as solar, wind and geothermal. Currently, hydropower and geothermal account for 88% and 1% respectively of total electricity generation in the country.
