In 1999, the government announced that from 15 April 2000, an energy label will be required on the windscreen of all new passenger cars in all salesrooms in Denmark. The car labelling is anticipated to help reach the targets for sustainable development. The main objective to be achieved by the label is to make consumers aware of their fuel efficiency and to influence their purchasing decisions - thus increasing fuel efficiency and reducing average CO2 emissions of new cars.
