Minimum Energy Performance Rating for rental properties (England and Wales)

New Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards in England and Wales came into force on 1st April 2018, requiring all rental properties to have a minimum Energy Performance Certificate rating of E. The regulations came into force for new lets and renewals of tenancies in April 2018 and will apply to all existing tenancies from April 2020. It will be unlawful to rent a property below the minimum E rating, unless there is an applicable exemption.
