Improving Energy Efficiency in Building Sector

Last updated: 14 September 2020
As per Regulation on Energy Performance of Buildings, the energy performance of buildings are calculated on the basis of a methodology that includes thermal insulation, heating and air-conditioning installations, application of renewable energy sources and design of the building. IIt also requires minimum performance criteria and standards concerning architecture, heat insulation, heating and cooling systems and electrification. With the Regulation, Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) was introduced as of January 2011 in order to give information on primary energy demand and CO2 emissions of new buildings and declare when buildings are purchased or rented. The Regulation requires that new buildings have at least C class Energy Performance Certificates.
