MEPS for Motors (IE3)

MEPS for motors were introduced on 1 Oct 2018 in Singapore, equivalent to IE3

 

Covers the following:
All single speed, 3-phase 50 Hz or 50/60 Hz induction motors that are rated on the basis of continuous duty operation, and with

1) 2, 4 or 6-poles;

2) Rated power between 0.75 kW and 375 kW; and

3) Rated voltage of up to 1,000V.

 

Not Covered:

1) Special-purpose motors

2) Motors that operate wholly immersed in a liquid

3) Multi-speed motors, brake motors and torque motors

4) Motors that are completely integrated into a product

5) Motors that will be exported to other countries

 

TEST STANDARDS:

Motors shall be tested according to:

1) IEC 60034-2-1:2014 (method 2-1-1B) or

2) IEEE 112:2004 (method B)

 

Test reports from the following laboratories are accepted:

1) Manufacturers’ in-house test laboratories;

2) Test laboratories that have been accredited by the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) to carry out the test in accordance with the applicable test standards; or

3) Overseas test laboratories that have been accredited by their local accreditation bodies and have signed a Mutual Recognition Arrangement with SAC to carry out the test in accordance with the applicable test standards.
