Last updated: 18 October 2019

The Top Runner Program is a mandatory standard programme based on the Energy Conservation Act targeting manufacturers and importers of energy-consuming products.

Energy efficiency of AC motors was recognized as the important measure to facilitate energy efficiency in industrial sector as these motors are widely used for different purposes including pumps, ventilations and compressors. Under this circumstance, there was an amendment to the Act to newly target AC motors in Oct. 2013.

Manufacturers and importers of the motors are required to achieve energy efficiency criteria within the target fiscal year (2015).
