Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change

Last updated: 22 February 2022

The Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change is Canada's climate change plan developed with the provinces and territories. The plan includes a pan-Canadian approach to pricing carbon pollution and measures to achieve emission reductions, investments to drive clean technology, as well as adaptation plans to build resilience in response to climate change.

In the area of industry, the Framework includes new regulations to reduce methane emissions from the oil and gas sector in order to reduce emissions by 40-45 percent by 2025. The federal government will also help catalyse the transition to a clean growth economy through investments to complement provincial and territorial actions, including investments in infrastructure, the Low-Carbon Economy Fund, and smart grid technologies.
