The standards have been developed by the Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) in collaboration with the Energy Regulation Board. The Standards prescribe the quality of biodiesel which should be sold on the Zambian Market and include other regulations for the development of the bio fuel industry. Zambia has a variety of crops suitable for bioenergy production such as sunflower, soy beans, and jatropha. The bio fuel industry is now one of the priority industries listed for incentives by the Zambia Development Agency. Issues still remaining to be attended to include ficing, sustainability, transport and storage and pricing.
