Decree 2009/362 on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Premiums

Tunisia's National Agency in charge of Energy Efficiency (ANME) provides energy efficiency and renewable energy deployment projects with a range of premiums once the project is running, in the form of refunds. Premiums allocated to renewable energy projects are set as follows:

  • A TDN 200 - equivalent to USD 137;
  • premium for residential and small scale solar thermal water heaters;
  • 30% of initial investment cost for solar thermal water heaters in the industrial and service sectors;
  • 40% of initial investment cost, with a TDN 20 000 ceiling, for electricity production in the agricultural sector;
  • 40% of initial investment cost, with a TDN 20 000 ceiling, for biogas production;
  • 30% of initial investment cost, with a TDN 3 000 ceiling, for electricity production in solar PV equipped buildings;
  • 20% of initial investment cost, with a TDN 50 000 ceiling, for cogeneration facilities;

The Decree also creates a Specific Consultation Commission to the Industry, Energy and Small and Medium Enterprise Ministry, in charge of managing and assessing the attribution of the subsidies.
