Blueprint of National Energy Management (2005-2025)

The 2005-2025 National Energy Blueprint identifies short- and long-term development objectives in the electricity sector. In addition to targets on increasing electrification levels, infrastructure expansion, reduction of subsidies and improvement in efficiency, the Blueprint establishes targets for electricity production from various renewable energy sources.

Targets:

The target is set at 15% of the countrys electricity demand by 2025 to come from renewable energy sources.

Specific targets for energy production from various renewable energy sources are established as follows:

  • Geothermal: 9 500 MW;
  • Small-scale hydropower: 500 MW (on grid) 330 MW (off grid);
  • Solar energy: 80 MW;
  • Biomass for power generation: 810 MW
  • Wind energy: 250 MW (on grid) 5 MW (off grid);
