The Austrian Climate Change Strategy covers the period 2008-2012 and covers all sectors, particularly focusing on those not covered by the EU Emissions Trading Scheme. The strategy, which was first adopted in 2002, was amended by the Austrian cabinet in March 2007, based on an evaluation of the 2002 strategy. The revised strategy outlines new and stronger measures required to meet Austrias Kyoto Protocol target, including by purchasing allowances from abroad.
