The Greenhouse Gas Abatement Programme (GGAP) was an Australian Government initiative to reduce Australias net greenhouse gas emissions by supporting activities likely to result in substantial emission reduction particularly during the period of the Kyoto Protocol (2008-2012). GGAP targetted opportunities for large-scale, cost-effective and sustained abatement across the economy. GGAP supported projects expected to result in quantifiable and additional abatement not expected to occur in the absence of GGAP funding. Priority was given to projects that delivered abatement exceeding 250 000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-e) per annum. Three funding rounds of GGAP have been concluded. No further rounds are being offered.
