EV Charging Infrastructure Target 2030

Last updated: 3 December 2019

As part of the French Law no 2015-992 of 17 August 2015, “Law on Energy Transition for Green Growth” (LTECV), the French Government has set the target of 7 million public and private charging points for electric vehicles by 2030.

As of September 2019, France had a total of about 28,000 charging stations (1). Of this total, more than 10,000 were public charging spots (2).

In May 2018, the French government announced the target of reaching 50,000 charging spots by end 2020 and 100,000 by end 2022 (3).

By way of comparison, in 2019 France had just over 11,000 gas stations.
