High Performance New Construction (HPNC) incentive program

Last updated: 15 January 2020

On March 21, 2019, the Ontario Government announced that the High Performance New Construction (HPNC) incentive programme would be cancelled as of April 1, 2019. As a result, no new applications are being accepted.

The HPNC programme supported conservation and demand management in new construction and retrofit projects in commercial and multi-family residential buildings in Toronto.

For building owners and managers, energy efficient buildings have lower long-term operating costs, greater marketability, and greater occupant comfort. The programme assisted building owners and developers to access the saveONenergy High Performance New Construction Program, which rewards builders and project decision-makers with incentives to offset the cost of implementing energy-efficiency measures. It also partnered with the City of Toronto's Planning Division, assisting with the review of site plan application submissions and ensures applications for new buildings meet the energy efficiency requirements of the Toronto Green Standard (TGS).
