The Virtual Power Plant Energy Efficiency Program (VPPP)

Last updated: 28 November 2019

The Virtual Power Plant Energy Efficiency Programme, co-financed by EU Cohesion Fund, aims to achieve annual energy savings targets in the industrial sector equivalent to 200 MW of capacity on average in 2020. The first companies that join voluntarily (mostly SMEs) get a free assessment and energy staff capacity building.

The following elements of the energy management are examined in detail:

  • How energy efficiency is integrated into the organisation's management system;
  • Decision-making based on measurements;
  • Awareness of energy purchases, exploiting market opportunities;
  • Whether energy efficiency goals and action plans exist;
  • Adequacy of financial and human resources; and
  • Evaluation.

Through the programme, companies can be certified as "Energy Efficient Companies" by conducting energy efficiency projects which can be measured and verified. Project development and evaluation details will be stored in the programme's knowledge database.
