Thermal Insulation Performance Labeling of Windows

The “Thermal Insulation Performance Labeling of Windows” was introduced by Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) based on the Energy Conservation Act (Article 86). METI published the implementation guideline for the performance labeling in 2008 and used as a labeling standard for this program. The latest revision of the labeling was occurred in May 2010 and took effect in April 2011.
Windows (sash windows and multiple-layered glass) are additionally Designated of Building Materials subject to the Top Runner Program under the Energy Saving Act. in Nov 2014.
The revised provision additionally defines as building materials to prevent heat loss in buildings that are particularly necessary to improve the rational use of energy, pursuant to the provision of Article 81 (3) of the Energy Saving Act (called “building materials subject to the Top Runner Program”).

Amended:
Announced in May 2011 in that a new method was introduced for measuring thermal transmission rate of a window according to JIS standard.
