Support for small customers struggling to pay energy bills

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will support those who have difficulty paying electricity and gas charges due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, regardless of whether they are individuals or companies. In consideration of the situation, the government requested to take flexible measures regarding the deferment of payment of electricity and gas charges, such as the deferment of supply suspension due to unpaid charges.On 24 February 2021, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has approved to extend the special measures, which is based on a state of emergency on April 7, 2020, in order to take flexible measures such as postponement of payment of charges by electric power companies and gas companies.For those who received a loan of emergency small-lot funds on January 22, 2021, those who intend to receive these loans, or those who are considered to have difficulty in paying electricity and gas charges are allowed to postpone the payment due date stipulated in the electricity and gas consignment supply agreement. These special measures have been implemented since March 25, 2020.
