One of the five pillars of the CAD15 billion A Healthy Environment and a Healthy Economy climate plan, announced in December 2020, is a collection of actions focused on climate change action through carbon pricing and supporting measures for households. Specific steps include to:- Propose increasing the price on carbon by $15 a tonne from 2023 until the price reaches $170 a tonne by 2030, while returning the proceeds to households so that the majority receive more money back than they pay in provinces where the federal system applies. - Move from carbon pollution pricing rebate payments being distributed annually to a quarterly basis, starting as early as 2022.- Explore the potential of border carbon adjustments and discuss this issue with international partners such as the EU and US
