Last updated: 11 May 2023

The Government of Sweden's 2021 budget bill includes investments in climate neutral and non-toxic circular solutions throughout the country to reduce carbon emissions while creating jobs and strengthen competitiveness. The government increases funds for:

  • Chemical work to be able to ensure that goods and products are non-toxic from the start
  • Investments in advanced purification of pharmaceutical residues and other difficult-to-degrade pollutants in waste water.

Budget allocations of SEK 150 million in 2021, SEK 140 million in 2022 and SEK 10 million in 2023 are outlined to support a circular economy.
