Clean Cities
Clean Cities is a government-industry partnership designed support local decisions to adopt practices that reduce petroleum consumption in the transportation sector. Clean Cities helps develop public/private partnerships to promote alternative fuels and vehicles, fuel blends, fuel economy, hybrid vehicles, and idle reduction technologies.
Clean Cities provides assistance through its participation in State Energy Program grants; co-ordination of Technical Assistance projects; maintenance of databases; Web sites; and publication of fact sheets, newsletters, and related technical materials.
Clean Cities has approximately 90 volunteer coalitions (6,500 stakeholders) nationwide, which develop public/private partnerships. The goal of Clean Cities is to expand and stimulate alternative fuel and advanced technology markets to reduce petroleum consumption by 2.5 billion gallons by 2020.
