World Energy Outlook 2009 presented in Oslo
19 November 2009
IEA Chief Economist Fatih Birol presented the results of the World Energy Outlook 2009 (WEO-2009) in Oslo on 17 November. The conference was held at Statoils Autumn Conference with 650 participants.
In his introductory remarks, Norway’s Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Terje Riis-Johansen, said: “This year’s World Energy Outlook visualises how critical the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen will be: If no agreement is reached in December, IEA analysis estimates that the cost for the world will be enormous. To quote directly from the World Energy Outlook: it will cost us $500 billion a year.”
