Background:

Organised jointly by the IEA's Working Party on Renewable Energy Technologies and IEA Implementing Agreement collaborative programmes, this event will focus on current technologies, markets and successful policies for renewable heating and cooling. It will identify pathways for accelerating technology development and deployment. A Seminar Discussion Brief will be made available before the Seminar. SESSION 1:  TECHNOLOGY STATUS, COST, COMPETITIVENESS, RD&D, NORMS & STANDARDS

Introduction:
The session discussed the current technology status of relevant renewable energy technologies in heat production. It focused on economically-recoverable resource potential, current and future costs, technology RD&D challenges, norms and standards.

Introduction:
The session provided policy status, future trends and implications for renewable heat technologies. It explored a vision of renewable heat market and also discussed policy and regulatory framework aspects of the paradigm shift which would be required to meet national and international objectives.
