Proceedings: Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) met for the 11th time, but 2005 also marked the entry into force of the Kyoto Protocol. At Montréal, the first ever meeting of the Parties to the Protocol (MOP) was held parallel to the Conference of the Parties to the Convention (COP).

The IEA played an active role at COP-11:

- Mr. Mandil's address the COP in the high level segment.

- High level Bilateral Meetings were organised for M. Mandil. The purpose of these meetings was to convey energy perspectives to senior environmental officials and hear their views.

- IEA experts spoke in numerous other side events organised by various stake-holders

- The IEA Stand displayed recent IEA Publications and free Information Papers. IEA Staff were available to respond to questions.
