Background:

Developments in international emissions trading markets continue to move apace, with concomitant effects on the many actors and stakeholders. This fifth annual workshop, organised jointly between the IEA, IETA, and EPRI, provided an opportunity for government, industry, brokers, finance, and NGO delegates to discuss some of the key issues relating to market developments.

The workshop combined presentation of papers on recent research, together with extended discussion sessions on the following subjects:

  • Market news
  • Emissions trading and compatibility with future international architectures
  • Industry: their experience with emissions trading
  • Extending the coverage of domestic systems
  • Progress on project mechanisms
