Workshop on Electricity Transmission and Distribution Technology and R&D |
|
| Location and date(s) of workshop: |
IEA, Paris: 4-5 November 2004 |
| Organiser(s): | IEA |
Background: |
New technologies will be needed to modernize and improve the reliability and security of electricity transmission and distribution (T&D) systems. New technologies will also be needed to support competitive markets, supply high-quality power and accommodate distributed and intermittent generation. Yet research, development and commercialization of these technologies – many of them advanced – face a number of technical, economic, regulatory and institutional barriers. This workshop will take a close look at technology for 21st century power supply. It will review technology priorities and point to the research and collaboration that will be needed to bring critical technologies to fruition and to bring them to bear on the power delivery challenges of the future. |
