India
As per the China section, the Indian focus starts with a political, economic and demographic overview of India, followed by an analysis
of the Indian energy sector. The Indian Reference Scenario features sector by sector projections of India's energy future under the
assumption that no new energy related policies are introduced. The transport sector analysis highlights the role of the large share of two-
and three-wheelers on India roads. A rural-urban breakdown in the residential sector is a special focus of the Indian section, including
a new electrification model. The Alternative Policy Scenario shows the possible reductions that energy policies that are currently under
consideration but not yet implemented could have on energy demand, domestic production and energy imports, investment bills and CO2 emssions.
The effects of increased economic growth on all of these measures are analysed in the High Growth Scenario. Finally an special focus
chapter analyses energy poverty in India, its costs, and the options for reducing it.
