Chinese and Indian Authorities and OPEC and other Co-operation

The IEA worked closely with public authorities and private organisations in China and India, our strategic partners co-operating on WEO 2007 are ERI in China (Energy Research Institute) and TERI in India (The Energy and Resources Institute). Work with international organisations involved the analysis of energy-sector and energy policy issues in these two countries, including The World Bank and regional lending institutions. The IEA plans to organise conferences/workshops on specific topics, such as the prospects for indigenous energy production, coal liquefaction, power-sector reforms and energy-efficiency programmes.  Two major workshops - one in China and one in India - were held during the first quarter of 2007. These workshops were organised in co-operation with ERI in China and TERI in India.

The 5th joint OPEC-IEA Workshop will be held in Indonesia in May 2007 and will focus on China and India.

EAD has entered into collaboration with the CIRED (a French publicly funded CNRS research institute which has achieved international recognition for its integrated modelling capacity) to develop a General Equilibrium Model (called WEM-ECO) with a detailed representation of the energy sector, by coupling EAD's WEM model with CIRED’s IMACLIM-R model.

EAD benefitted from the collaboration with IHS Energy in order to conduct a field-by-field analysis of long- term oil and gas production prospects in China and India.
