Supported by the US Department of Energy and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, the program has improved the energy efficiency of district heating in eight Russian cities and the entire Orel Region. Planned to include several other municipalities, the project commanded a budget of $US 220 million in 2005. The project includes energy efficiency improvements to boiler houses and central heating points, to municipal and public service buildings, and to the housing stocks of included regions. |
