International CHP/DHC Collaborative Fact Sheet
Over the next 25 years, fossil fuels will remain the world’s dominant source of energy. Making power and heat generation more efficient and climate-friendly is therefore crucial. Combined heat and power (CHP), or cogeneration, and district heating and ooling (DHC) are attractive, proven technologies that can significantly improve energy supply efficiency. Despite several government and private sector efforts to advance these technologies, global investment in CHP and DHC have remained stagnant for the past decade, at a time when they are critically needed to solve the climate change problem.
