AgSTAR is an outreach program promotes the use of methane recovery (biogas) technologies at confined animal feeding operations that manage manure as liquids or slurries. AgSTAR participants include livestock, energy, and governmental sectors. AgSTAR promotes the widespread use of profitable manure management systems such as biogas recovery systems. A biogas recovery system is an anaerobic digester with biogas capture and combustion to produce electricity, heat or hot water. AgSTAR Partners received technical, marketing, and networking assistance in return for their commitment to help identify and overcome barriers for anaerobic digester projects, share information, and provide education and outreach to farms in their area.
